Spinach

Originally from of Iran, Spinach was widely spread thanks to French Queen Catherine de Medicis in the 16th century. She liked it so much she requested it in every dish. As a tribute, dishes made with Spinach are called “in the Florentine way” as the queen was born in Florence, Italy. Later, it became very famous because of the cartoon character Popeye, who gain phenomenal strength through gulping Spinach. But surprisingly, Spinach contains very little iron. It is however very rich in folic acid and vitamin K.
