Called Maracuja in Creole, Apple Liana in New Caledonia or Grenadia in Haiti, the Passion fruit originates from South America. It was generally used there as a remedy for anxiety or insomnia. Rich in vitamin A and C, it has a unique, bittersweet taste.

How to buy

Choose passion fruit when they are deep purple, pink or yellow-green. A dry fruit is ripe and ready to be eaten.

You can keep passion fruit in the fridge for a few days. To ripen, keep at room temperature, away from the sunlight, until the skin shows some wrinkles.

Tips
