Lychee

Know your product

Cultivated 2,000 years ago in China, from where its nickname “China Cherry” comes, Lychee today is used in many food products: lychee wine, rum flavored with lychee, lychee beers… In China, it is even dried to be savored as candy. Its rough skin hides a flesh that is very juicy, sweet, and rich in flavor.

How to buy

Choose a lychee with a pink skin. The lychee goes green after picking.

how to keep

Keep your lychees in a plastic bag and in the fridge for up to a week. However, the lychee lasts longer if it is frozen, with or without its skin.

Tips

The pit is not edible but can be used as a decoration. Remove the stalk of the fruit and peel it before use.
