Gilthead Seabream

Know your product

The scientific name of Gilthead Seabream is Sparus aurata. Its body is slightly flat laterally and the head is quite small as well as its mouth. Its dorsal fin is long and thorny, and its coat is gray-blue, with a funny peculiarity: a bronze strip marks its forehead, like a crown, giving it its name. It’s a lean fish with very white and fine flesh that is soft and juicy, with a subtly iodized taste.
It’s mainly farmed in the Mediterranean Sea, the English Channel, the North Sea, in Scandinavia and in Senegal.
