Shrimp aor prawn is a shellfish with 5 pairs of legs, a big belly and a soft shell. There are over 160 species. It was already eaten by hominids 300,000 years ago. Nevertheless, it has always been considered a luxurious dish due to its rarity. Over the last few decades, it has become more common seen on our plates. Indeed, only within 20 years, its production has multiplied by 9.
The flesh of this shellfish is firm and translucent, yellowish, brown, gray or red according to the species. When it’s cooked, it takes on a pinkish or opaque color. It contains proteins, calcium, magnesium, sodium, zinc and vitamin B12.

We supply wild or farmed Shrimps ; common or large-sized Gambas ; raw or cooked ; plain or marinated ; whole or peeled ; pink, white, brown, black tiger or tropical.

How to buy

Choose Shrimps of an irreproachable quality. Their body must be firm, releasing a slight sea smell. Avoid sticky shellfish or those with black spots.

how to keep

Keep fresh Shrimps for up to 2 or 3 days in the fridge, and for 1 month in the freezer. If they are cooked, you can keep them in the fridge for 48 hours, and frozen from 6 months to a year.

Tips

Shrimp weight and size diminishes during cooking and after being peeled. Plan to have a little more in quantity than what you need.
