Pecten maximus is commonly called King Scallop or Great Scallop. It has a big fan-shaped shell. The male is white-ivory in color, while the female is red-orange. It moves by shutting its shells and expelling water. It mainly lives in the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.

Our King Scallops mainly come from Scotland or France. Its flesh is very rich in iron, and is appreciated by gourmets for its fine, tender and subtle taste.

How to buy

Choosing good King Scallops is very important. They must still be living: their shell has to be well closed or the Scallop should refold when you touch it.
