Cerastoderma edule is commonly called Cockle. Its shell is fan-shaped, with an off-white color. It contains a small, white and slightly firm heart. It mainly lives on the sandy floors of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Its flesh is firm, delicate and rich in iron, phosphorous, magnesium, and calcium.

How to buy

Choosing good Cockles is very important. They must still be living: their shell has to be well closed, or the Cockle should refold when you touch it.
