Sardina pilchardus or Sardine, comes from the Italian island Sardinia. This small fish is 20 cm long on average, and has a silver-blue coat. It is known that Ancient Greeks and Romans enjoyed eating them. Sardines are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, selenium, phosphorous, vitamins D and B; it’s a fatty fish.

Our Sardines are mainly fished in the Atlantic Ocean, Spain, the Mediterranean Sea, and from the Breton coast.

How to buy

As Sardine flesh is fragile, it shouldn’t show any signs of deterioration, and have no blood spots.

how to keep

Keep fresh Sardines in the fridge for up to 24 hours only, otherwise it will loose all its flavors.

Tips

Handle your Sardines carefully because pressing them too much can ruin them.
