Pineapple

Know your product

When Christopher Columbus landed in Guadeloupe in 1493, the inhabitants of the island gave him a pineapple as a welcoming gift. It is due to its resemblance with a pinecone that we call it the pineapple.

How to buy

Best to pick big fleshy pineapples, with a sweet odor and a rosette of dark green leaves. The color of the fruit doesn’t show whether the fruit is ripe or not.

how to keep

Caution! Below 10°C, the pineapple dies. So it is important to keep it at room temperature. Serve your pineapple immediately or keep it covered for 2 or 3 days at room temperature.

Tips

You can use pineapple juice to marinate meats. You can also serve it alongside meats or fish.
