Typically Mediterranean, Figs were the first fruit to be cultivated in the world. Rich in vitamin B3 and in fiber, figs favor digestion. They release unique flavors and have quite a sweet taste.

How to buy

Choose soft figs with a sweet smell. Handle them cautiously as the skin is quite fragile. Avoid very firm figs, as they don’t ripen once picked.

how to keep

Keep your figs in a plastic bag and in the fridge for up to 2 days. Keep at room temperature for a bit before serving.

Tips

You can wash figs in cold water before using them. They are generally served raw and whole. You can also incorporate them into various recipes, such as foie gras with fig puree.
