Bananas

Know your product

Banana comes from the Arabic word "Banan," which means "Fingers". It was cultivated in New Guinea about 7,000 years ago, and was then exported to Southeast Asia. Bananas appeared in the West much later; only a few centuries ago. Marketing this fruit led to Pomona’s birth, from which our company has developed its vast range of products. Thanks to its high vitamin and potassium content, it became a staple product for millions of people all over the world.

Today, bananas are picked green; this allows for long conservation and makes transport easier. Our bananas are selected through using high quality and eco-aware producers. All of our banana bunches contain at least 4 fruit.

How to buy

Choose firm bananas that aren’t blemished. If the fruit is yellow and shows light brown spots, it is sweet, soft, and ready to be eaten.

how to keep

Store bananas at room temperature until they reach your desired ripeness. For longer conservation, keep them in a cool room. The outer skin will darken but the fruit will keep its freshness.

Tips

To prevent the fruit from turning brown, you can coat it with lemon juice. When you cook bananas, use the ripest ones.
